Cover Story: USO “Woman of the Year” Leads Effort to Honor Those in Uniform With National Movie Theater Discount Program

Free movie viewings nationwide offer honors America's servicemen and women in the US as part of a new program to offer ongoing movie discounts to all who serve.

National Amusements, Inc., a world leader in the motion picture exhibition industry operating more than 1,500 screens in the U.S. and abroad, announced a partnership with the USO of Metropolitan New York to extend special discounts at many leading movie theaters across the country.

To kick it off, National Amusements will proudly salute all Active Service Personnel and their dependents with FREE admission and FREE small popcorn and fountain drinks at all of their movie theatre locations in the U.S.A. through April 30, 2007.

Also, Effective May 1, 2007, all National Amusements movie theatres in the USA will institute an on-going Military discount price policy for all Active Service Personnel, their spouses and dependents. The special military program pricing will be $7.00 for general admission, and $5.00 for matinee and children. Appropriate Active Service ID must be presented at the theatre box office to receive free admission, free concession offer, and military discount.Veterans Advantage COO Lin Higgins with USO Woman of the Year Military Honoree Vice Admiral Vivien S. Shari Redstone, President of National Amusements who was honored this month as the USO of Metropolitan New York's Woman of the Year noted, "The USO excels at providing the programs and services that the military and their families need for recreation, entertainment, and to build community and keep families connected in challenging situations. National Amusements wanted to continue that tradition, and what better way to offer enjoyment and relaxation, and to keep families together, than with the magic of movies."

"We are very excited to offer this program to our men and women in uniform, and their families as a small token of the appreciation and respect we feel for those who serve our country and put their lives at risk on a daily basis," she added.

National Amusements theatres are located in the following states: California, Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.

Brian Whiting, Executive Director of the USO noted, "This partnership with National Amusements is the single largest donation the USO of Metropolitan New York has ever received. The ability for military and their loved ones to receive complimentary movie admission, popcorn and refreshments is an immeasurable contribution and will make a direct impact on the lives of our servicemen and women. This program will serve thousands of our Armed Forces and their families who sacrifice so much for our country."
