Lastly, with an eye on the calendar, we want to recognize the many veterans who served in Operation Desert Storm, which began thirty-two years ago on January 17. Our efforts there resulted in successfully removing Iraq’s forces from Kuwait. And 42 years ago, on January 19, the 52 American hostages held at the American Embassy in Iran were released after 444 days of captivity.
