John Dasburg

John H. Dasburg was appointed chairman, chief executive officer, and president of the Burger King Corporation on April 1, 2001. Prior to joining Burger King, Mr. Dasburg served as president and CEO of Northwest Airlines for more than a decade.

Before his airline career, he served as president of Marriott’s Lodging Group and executive vice president of Marriott Corporation. Prior to his tenure at Marriott, which bergan in 1980, he was a partner with KPMG Peat Marwick, the international certified public accounting firm.

He is active in civic affairs and serves as a director of a number of not-for-profit enterprises. Mr. Dasburg is a recipient of the 2001 Horatio Alger Award, given to distinguished Americans who have overcome economic and other hardships, achieved considerable success, and returned considerably back to their communities. He was named airline industry "Man of the Year" in 1994 by Travel Agent magazine. He was appointed by President Bush to the White House Fellows Committee. He is a member of the Boards of Genuity Corporation, the Mayo Clinic, the St. Paul Companies, Northwest Airlines, and the Supervisory Board of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Mr. Dasburg, who earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering, a master’s degree in business administration, and a law degree, all from the University of Florida, served three years in the U.S. Navy, with one year in the Vietnam theater of operations. He is married and the father of two children.
