AWARENESS AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Through our member newsletter and website, we also raise awareness of public and private sector program supporting those who serve, veterans, and their families, such as The National Resource Directory.
Managed and designed by the American Academy of Nursing, the "Have You Ever Served in the Military?" campaign is a new awareness effort to improve the health of veterans. "Have You Ever Served in the Military?" encourages healthcare providers to ask about their patients’ military background. Learn more about what you should know for better health at HaveYOUEverServed.com.
Vets should also be informed about exposure-related health issues. Learn more about the Vietnam Veterans of America's Self-Help Guide to Service-Connected Disability Compensation for Exposure to Agent Orange (PDF download), which lists the diseases that are currently considered service-connected, presumptive for veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam during the period January 9, 1962, to May 7, 1975.
